Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
A tragic road accident near Tala Bridge on 19 BT Road claimed the lives of Amit Kumar Sau and his younger daughter, Mishka Sau, on Monday morning. The victims, residents of Gangulipara Lane, were on their way to school when the fatal incident occurred. According to police sources, a taxi struck them from behind, causing critical injuries that led to their deaths.
The accident has left the community in shock, as both father and daughter were well-known in the area. Amit Kumar Sau was reportedly walking his daughter to school when the taxi, driving at high speed, hit them. Despite efforts to rush them to a nearby hospital, both were declared dead on arrival.
Eyewitnesses at the scene described the accident as horrific, stating that the impact was so severe that it left little chance of survival for the victims. The area near Tala Bridge is known for heavy traffic, and locals have often raised concerns about the reckless driving that occurs in the area.
Following the accident, the police quickly responded by seizing the taxi involved in the incident. The driver has been arrested and is currently under police custody. Investigations are underway to determine whether negligence or any other factors contributed to the crash.
The incident has sparked outrage among residents, many of whom gathered at the accident site demanding stricter traffic regulations in the area. “This is not the first time something like this has happened here.
